FTP, which denotes File Transfer Protocol, represents the most famous method of transferring website files to a hosting account. Using FTP client software that is installed on your desktop or laptop PC, you can connect to your hosting server and copy all the website files that you want with a couple of clicks of the mouse. This is done using an easy-to-navigate interface and it is as easy as dragging & dropping the abovementioned files. The advantage of using FTP is that you’ll be able to set up different accounts, each with a different level of access to your web space, so if you need to grant someone access, for example – a web designer, they will be able to connect only to a particular folder and will not be able to view the rest of your content or any other information, including personal details. Three things are needed in order to be able to set up an FTP connection – a hostname, which is usually a domain or an IP, a username and a password.

FTP Accounts in Shared Hosting

Our shared hosting packages will allow you to create numerous FTP accounts with just several clicks of the mouse via the Hepsia Control Panel and to choose what website files and folders each one can connect to. There isn’t any upper limit on the maximum number of accounts that you are allowed to create, so you will be able to have as many as you want at any given moment. In case you don’t want to use a specific FTP account anymore or if a web designer has accomplished their job and you do not want them to access the web content anymore, you can simply remove that account. The Control Panel’s FTP section will permit you to view all currently active FTP accounts displayed alphabetically, along with various options, which you can access with one click of the mouse. You’ll be able to change the password and the access path, to download an auto-configuration file, and so on. We also have an in-depth Help section, which will help you manage your FTP accounts in case you experience any complication.

FTP Accounts in Semi-dedicated Hosting

When you host your sites under a semi-dedicated server account, you’ll be able to create a different FTP account for any of them, as we haven’t set a limit on this feature with any of our packages. You can do this through the FTP section of our easy-to-use Hepsia Control Panel where you can also view the full list of all the accounts that you have created, together with the folder that each one of them can access. If needed, you will be able to change the password for a particular account or to modify its access path with a couple of clicks. You can also delete an account with ease if you no longer require it – for example, if you’ve hired a designer who is finished with the site and you do not want them to be able to connect to your files any longer. For your convenience, we’ve compiled different educational video clips, which will help you manage your FTP accounts effortlessly in case you’ve never used a web hosting service previously.
